What are they?

Healing arts are forms of hands-on and distance energy balancing and healing techniques.  They can include any of the following healing arts:  Reiki, esoteric healing, emotional clearing, CranioSacral Therapy, SomatoEmotional Release, and massage therapy.  Flower essences and essential oils/aromatherapy also can be used during healing arts sessions.

When should I consider them?

These techniques are valuable anytime an animal is facing a challenge or when there are imbalances in the physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual aspects of the animal.  Healing arts sessions are most effective soon after the onset of symptoms.  Also, they can be very beneficial to animals with chronic conditions or situations.  Often, multiple sessions are needed to achieve balance when an animal is dealing with a chronic condition.

Healing arts sessions should be considered for two very special groups of animals, the newborn and the senior animals.  Puppies, kittens, and all other newborn animals can benefit tremendously from healing arts sessions.  The emotional birth traumas can be cleared and physical birth traumas can often be corrected by using Reiki, CranioSacral Therapy, and other healing arts methods.  Healing arts sessions are extremely beneficial to the senior population, too.  With routine sessions, the special needs of the senior population can be addressed and symptoms often improved.

Routine hands-on or distance healing and energy balancing techniques can be used very successfully as a disease prevention treatment.  By maintaining balance in the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies, imbalances can be eliminated, thus preventing the imbalance from manifesting as a physical symptom later on.  All of these healing methods can be used alone or with other methods of treatment.

What can I expect?

For most sessions, Karin uses more than one healing or energy balancing technique.  She will evaluate the animal’s needs and use the techniques that are appropriate for your animals and the symptoms at that time.  A typical in-person session starts with hands-on healing using Reiki and CranioSacral Therapy.  This is usually followed by esoteric healing and other techniques as needed.  A typical distance session uses esoteric healing and Reiki.  Emotional clearing can also be included when appropriate.  Esoteric healing sessions are as effective at a distance as they are in-person.  Distance sessions are especially effective for animals who are sensitive to traveling.

During a session, animals have reported a feeling of deep relaxation, comfort, and sense of peace.  Some are aware of the subtle shifts of energy.  Changes might take place gradually as the energy moves into the physical body.

While healing arts sessions can benefit your animal’s well-being, they are supplemental care and are not meant to be used instead of veterinary medicine.  Karin is not a veterinarian.  She cannot diagnose diseases or recommend medical treatments.

Reiki

Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is an ancient form of hands-on healing that employs the Universal Life Force energy to balance and heal the body.   It is a spiritually guided, all-enveloping energy of the body, soul, and spirit.  The Usui System of Reiki is not only the most simple and natural healing method, it is also the most effective way of transferring this Universal Life Energy.

The benefits of Reiki include:

Support the body’s natural ability to heal

Loosen blocked energy

Balance the body’s energies

Release stress and anxiety

Promote inner peace and calmness

Cleanse the body of poisons and toxins

Aid in releasing emotions

Work on the causal level of disease

Increase self confidence and compassion

Strengthen the immune system

Reiki can be used alone or with other methods of treatment.  It can be received in almost any circumstance or in any state of health.  The Reiki energy adjusts itself to the needs of the recipient; the animal will receive the amount of energy it needs to balance and heal the body.  Reiki also has the capacity to be sent to the animals from a distance.  Most animals will experience deep relaxation, warmth, and comfort.  The results of Reiki can be immediate or subtle.  The gentle, healing touch of Reiki will comfort, nurture, and support your animal companion by utilizing the Universal Life Source Energy to balance and heal their body and emotions.

Esoteric Healing

Esoteric healing is healing from within.  It balances the body’s energy on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.  It addresses the source of the disease rather than the symptoms.  Disease occurs when the body is insufficiently nourished by the soul.  Esoteric healing employs the etheric energy field, which surrounds and penetrates all living beings.   This energy field vitalizes the physical body and reflects the animal’s emotions and thoughts.  Within the energy field of each animal, there are seven major energy centers, or chakras.  Each of these centers energizes or vitalizes a related nerve center, endocrine gland, and internal organ system.  In a healthy animal, the energy field is balanced and harmonious, but where there is dis-ease, imbalance and disharmony can be felt.

An esoteric healing practitioner learns to sensitize her hands and her inner perception.  This enables her to examine the energy field in detail in order to find alterations in the flow of the energy field.  The practitioner will then work with the areas that are weak, congested, or stressed.  Then by using various balancing techniques, she will bring the animal’s energy field back to a more flowing, healthy, harmonious state.  Once these energies are balanced, the soul is able to infuse every part of the being, allowing true healing to occur.

The practitioner does not touch the animal during treatment; all balancing is performed away from the body.  Because this form of healing is done without touching the body, esoteric healing can be performed in-person or from a distance.

Emotional Clearing

Emotional clearing for your animal companion is an energy balancing session that includes esoteric healing and Reiki combined with essential oils and the intent to release and clear emotional blockages.

Emotional clearing sessions can be helpful to animals in many situations, including:

-a physical injury or illness

-a death in the family, animal or human

-separations or family members leaving home

-animals that have been emotionally or physically abused in the past

-rescue animals or animals that are living in a new home

-animals with behavior or emotional problems

When an animal experiences an emotional upset or trauma, feelings such as anxiety, fear, anger, abandonment, etc. are often stored or trapped in the physical body.  If not released, these emotions can remain in the body’s cells and can continue to impact the animal’s physical, emotional, and mental health.  The esoteric healing and essential oils help the body’s cells to release the negative feelings caused by the emotional trauma that are stored within the body.  They help the animals get in touch with their issues, process them, and release them.

CranioSacral Therapy

The craniosacral system includes the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord.  It extends from the cranial bones (skull, face, and mouth) down to the sacrum (tail bone).  Because this system is crucial to the development and performance of the brain and spinal cord, any imbalances or restrictions could cause sensory, motor, or neurological problems.

CranioSacral Therapy is performed on the animal using a very light touch.  The practitioner monitors the rhythm of the craniosacral system to identify imbalances or restrictions.  Then delicate, manual techniques are used to release the imbalances and restrictions from the problem area, thus relieving any undue pressure and stress on the brain or spinal column.  After returning balance to the central nervous system, this therapy encourages the body’s own natural healing to take place so that it may return to its optimal level of performance.  All companion animals can benefit from this safe and gentle form of compassionate care.

CranioSacral Therapy has been found effective for many conditions affecting animals, including:

Lyme disease

Arthritis

Spine and neck lameness

Chronic joint and spine pain

Hip dysplasia

Systemic disorders

Emotional and behavioral problems

Central nervous system disorders

Birth trauma

Post traumatic stress disorder

The special issues of elderly pets

SomatoEmotional Release

SomatoEmotional Release is a therapeutic process that expands on the principles and techniques of CranioSacral Therapy to help rid the body and mind of the residual effects of trauma.  SomatoEmotional Release emphasizes wholeness and self-healing.  The goal is to achieve a comfortable mind-body approach to resolving emotional and physical problems that are creating obstacles that inhibit personal progress and growth.  It works with the whole body to help bring the animal to a new level of self-awareness and optimal levels of functioning.

Often, after a physical or emotional trauma, the body retains an emotional imprint of the trauma.  These imprints can contain the intense feelings that occurred at the time of the trauma—such as anger, fear, resentment.  The imprints leave residues in the body in areas that are called “energy cysts”.  Although an animal can adapt to these energy cysts, over time they cause the body to use extra energy to function normally while the cysts are present.  As time passes, the body needs more and more energy to continue to adapt to the energy cysts.  Eventually the body is unable to function normally.  When this happens, symptoms and dysfunctions begin to appear or they become more difficult to suppress or ignore.

Using the light-touch, manual techniques and telepathic communication processing skills of SomatoEmotional Release, the practitioner can guide the animal through releasing these destructive energy patterns from the mind and body.  When the energy cysts and their accompanying dysfunctions are released, the animal is able to resolve long held, challenging emotional and physical issues.

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage is a technique involving the use of touch on the etheric and physical body with the intent to heal.  It is a hands-on healing technique that can be both therapeutic and pleasurable.  It can be used alone or with other energy balancing techniques.

The benefits of massage include:

-create a deeper bond with your animal

-promote deep relaxation & comfort

-affect behavioral issues by relieving physical and emotional pain

-maintain and restore flexibility

-strengthen the body by stimulating muscles and increasing circulation.

-remove metabolic wastes

-support animals in times of crisis, injury, surgery, grieving, stress, & aging

-maintain a consistent assessment of the animal

Therapeutic massage can also benefit the canine athlete.  It helps reduce the chance of injuries by warming up muscles before competitions and cooling them down after competitions.  In addition, it helps the dogs focus more on you and their body during their performances.

Flower Essences

When an animal is in good health, the electrical system that is within and surrounding the animal’s body is balanced and connected.  When something stressful happens in the animal’s life, the electrical system can become unbalanced and disconnected.  If this imbalance remains, it can impact the central nervous system.  If these imbalances are not corrected, they can lead to physical and emotional upsets.

Flower essences are tinctures that are produced from flowers, vegetables, and herbs.  Each plant is beneficial for a specific physical, mental, or emotional state.   In combination, they work to balance the body’s electrical and central nervous systems on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.  After a careful evaluation of the animal’s needs, a trained practitioner selects one or a combination of essences.  Drops are then added to drinking water, food, or applied directly on the animal’s tongue or skin.  When the animal is given the correct flower essences, multiple changes occur in the animal’s body.  There is an immediate balance the electrical system, a stabilization in the nervous system, and a stoppage of the domino effect than can lead to illness.  If the animal is already sick, the essences will stabilize the electrical and nervous system, while letting the body fight off the illness.  Recovery time can be reduced because the body does not have to heal systemically and rebalance the electrical & nervous systems at the same time.  In her practice, Karin uses Perelandra Flower Essences and Alaskan Flower Essences.

Essential Oils/Aromatherapy

Essential oils have been used for centuries for their restorative properties for the body, mind, and spirit.  They are highly concentrated, aromatic liquids distilled from flowers, shrubs, trees, roots, and seeds.  They are used to kill bacteria, fungi, & viruses; stimulate the regeneration of tissue; reduce inflammation; balance hormones; reduce pain & muscle tension; and balance moods & emotions.  Essential oils are capable of significant and immediate influence on the animal’s body because they have a unique ability to quickly penetrate cell membranes, travel through the blood and tissues, and enhance cellular function.  The practitioner selects the appropriate essential oils based on the animal's individual needs.  They can be inhaled, applied directly on the skin or, in some cases, ingested.

When essential oils are inhaled, also known as aromatherapy, the odor molecules are able to pass into the limbic lobe of the brain, which is the emotional control center.  The sense of smell is the only sense that can directly access this region of the brain.  The unique fragrance and molecular structure of the essential oils can directly stimulate the limbic lobe to help combat stress and emotional trauma.  They also can help release emotions and heal the emotional traumas that are stored in the brain.

When using essential oils, it is very important to use only the very purest, unadulterated, therapeutic-grade oils that are AFNOR (Association French Normalization Organization Regulation) or ISO (International Standards Organization) certified.  Lower grade oils may contain chemicals or be diluted, and therefore, will not produce therapeutic results.  They could also have harmful side effects.  Karin only uses AFNOR certified, therapeutic oils made by Young Living Essential Oils.  Contact Karin for more information about Young Living Essential Oils or how to purchase them from Young Living.
